This tool does read the codes as stated. But don't expect any codes you reset with it to stay reset. They usually come back after you've driven the vehicle a mile or two down the road. BUT I'm sure that has nothing to do with the tool itself. This tool performs the same as the ones others are charging 4 times more for.

It does read codes. but thats about all it does. gives a yes or no response for emissions related stuff. nothing else. couldnt even read the vin on my gmc. So if all you want is something to read a cel code, then this is it.

Frankly, I was very skeptical of a code reader/eraser for under $26.50 but this thing works PERFECT! So HAPPY! Very simple to operate. Gave me the code instantly. Googled the code. Got the info. Made the repair. Used the tool again to erase code. Passed emissions test. That EASY!

This does the minimum needed - returns and clear the diagnostic trouble codes. It works fine on my 2009 Subaru Forester. The two-button control system is minimalist but feels natural. The codes display without explanation but you can look them up on the Web. Overall this is a great choice for occasional use - that is, if you're a typical automobile owner who wants to know more than "check engine." BTW, the first thing I learned was that "link error" means "you forgot to turn on the ignition!"

My local repair shops charge $60 or more to run a diagnostic test This plugs into the port on my cars and will list the error codes. It doesn't tell what the codes mean, but I can easily look them up on my phone. Then I can either fix the problem myself, or can speak intelligently with my mechanic. Also clears "Check Engine" light Definitely worth the minimal investment that it took to purchase this device.

OBD2 Reader Car Diagnostic Tool OBD II. Does what it claims to do. Works great on my Nissan Frontier. Gives code number and clears codes. Easy to use. Fast shipping. A great buy for the money.

As expected it reads codes and erases them. It lives in my glove box along with a copy of code definitions so I am have no information on durability in a rough use environment (like rolling around the bottom of some of your tool boxes - you know who you are!). I have not used other features of the device. My only complaint is that the instructions are a bit sketchy.

I had a small problem with my car and the engine light came on. I didn't want to spend a lot of money on a code reader for once in a while use. This one fit the bill perfectly. It was quite inexpensive but works as advertised perfectly. It read the engine code (had to look the code up on line) and after i did the repair it reset the codes and turned off the engine light. For 16 bucks how could you go wrong. What a bargain.

So since i couldn't qualify for the super free shipping on amazon when i choose the xitech scanner, i decided to check out this one instead. don't be fooled by the cheap price, this little tool is very handy. Sure there are expensive scanners that give you in depth look at the trouble code you are trying to diagnose, freeze frame data and other convenience options, ect. but if you just want the codes, this little tool will do the trick. the only real hard work you have to do is using the google search engine to find the meaning of the code number. and even then, its not that big of a deal. it powers on without the need for a battery, so it works flawlessly. i can't really complain when i spent 1/2 the price for the average mechanic to check the codes for me. I used this on my 1999 Dodge Durango and a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado. excellent product, i suggest this to anyone!

The unit arrived quickly. It was easy to use and worked as promised.I would recommend it as a good buy.It seems to work on most model vehicles.
