Hi, everyone

this is Steven GA from xcar360.

This year there are some new diagnostic tool for mercedes said support doip on market . today i make all test on 7 types mercedes diagnostic tools.

1.Mercedes star C4 SD CONNNECT XCAR360 100925 version

This one is one of the most stable quality in china, price around 480usd . it can support K and CAN and truck 24v ,

but it can't support DOIP . and also no DOIP cable .

 

2. Mercedes Star C4 sdconnect DOIP device

Recently one factory made a SDCONNECT DOIP device here , they add a DOIP PCB on the normal C4 . looks like the original doip device . price about $600

But after test . we found it can't support DOIP protocol . it support K and CAN protocol , but it didn't support DOIP like they claimed . and it also didn't with a DOIP diagnostic cable .

so this one is same as normal one now . worthless


3.Mercedes Star C5 cheap one

this one price about 500usd .

this one is a joke . it use cheap C4 PCB , then insert it to a C5 case.

it work on K and CAN, but the factory quality not good, easy broken on 24 truck and not stable.

so this one also worthless.

 

4.Mercedes Star diagnosis Xentry connect C5 real one

this one price about 1100usd .

this one is a 1:1 clone from original xentry VCI , the SSD software is in device, and with license in machine .

it complete support K-line CAN and DOIP protocol . The booting speed a little slow , but diagnostic speed is quick.

it can update use original DVD , and install all ADDONS , it support all mercedes until now .and can use in any laptop .

so , this is worth to buy until now . price is 1100usd and include license update 2year .

5.ECOM

this is a original device from ACTIA the price about 1000euro . it support CAN and DOIP , but didn't support K-line .

diagnostic speed is quickly .

 

6.Xentry VCI

this is a Original Device . but very expensive , perfect support K + CAN + DOIP protocol . Diagnostic speed very quickly.

only problem , price higher.


7. VXDIAG DOIP VCI

This is a new device price $600. we test on some car W205 and old ,support K + CAN + DOIP protocol .Diagnostic speed not very quickly . but ok, not sure can completely support all car K+CAN + DOIP .
the problem of this device is 
(1) , maybe not can full compatible for all mercedes like original device
(2) , update , this can't update by yourself .
it made by J2534 and a little like VAS 6154 VXDIAG version .
if driver not update on time , it may can't use on new software .
and this one update by HDD .
2 year update 4times update fee about 400usd .
it is ok to buy now .

we give suggestion here .

1. if not need DOIP functions , SD CONNECT XCAR360 100925 version recommend to buy.

2. if you want a DOIP device and you can easy get update DVD, we suggest buy xentry connect C5 . update easy and orginal functions .

3. If you didn't have budget , and you still want a doip, you can buy vxdiag vci .

How to solve FVDI or avdi Connect server failed or Calibration failed problem

Many customer feedback .

recently the many customer have a same problem on FVDI or avdi

1. connecting to server failed

2. FVDI Calibration failed

the first probelm cause by the FVDI company update their server , they change a server , using the new server now .

so if you use quick loader 7.0  or 6.3 have this problem .

you should update it to 9.0

2. FVDI Calibration failed .

this problem may have some reason .

1. if software not ok,  you should try use the right software  6.3 or  9.0 , then try

2. if software ok , please check the dirver of FVDI is ok not ot , it is a FTDI 2.10 driver , will install a com port . 

3. if driver also ok , please try to check the FVDI dongle is connect corret or have problem ,  you should first connect this dongle to fvdi , then try to connet fvdi to laptop to run it .

BMW ISPI ICOM-FW 03-15-02 (UNPROTECTED)

In the later ICOM Firmware (03-15-00 +), BMW have decided to close ssh if you do not have the public key, also they have added RSA signed firmware, which means you cannot downgrade to an older firmware version because they are not signed.

In the attached link are 3 files:-

Use this if you *have* already upgraded to 03-15-00 or 03-15-02

ICOM_Restore.bin - a custom restore image which will restore to the latest firmware but unprotected.

Use the files below, if you have *not* already updated to 03-15-00 or 03-15-02

ICOM-BootImage-01-26-00c.bin - this contains the *FIX* for ssh.

ICOM-ApplicationImage-01-41-02c.bin - this contains a patch to bypass the need for signed firmware.

Which steps will be required before you can begin diagnosis?

These brief instructions provide a simplified overview.

Also read through the following chapters in this user guide under all circumstances to enable you to work properly with the XENTRY system.

Step 1: Switch on both devices.

Step 2: Configuration of both devices for your network, i.e. you have to configure the XENTRY Connect and XENTRY Tab 2.

Step 3: Call the XENTRY Control software using the link on the XENTRY Tab 2.

Step 4: Connection to a free XENTRY Connect with which you would like to work.

Step 5: Usual work procedure: once the connection to the XENTRY Connect has been established, you will see the Diagnosis Desktop. This runs on the XENTRY Connect. Here, you can launch and continue to work as usual with familiar diagnostic programs such as e.g. XENTRY Diagnostics.

Feedback for China Xentry C5

We collect the Customer feedback for our Xentry connect C5

Advantage :

1. The mahcine is not the fake C5 , it is real xentry connect . it is with a system , i use xentry asstinace software connect it .

2. then the VCI will display in Xentry control . then i enter in xentry connect,  it with xentry DAS DTS and vediamo , i try on W231 222 all works good

3. Support DOIP new car

4.after first time start , the run speed is ok

5. The license and system is stable , it isn't like the C4 sometime lost license and sometime windows system have problem.

Disadvantage:

1.The first time open ,cost 2-3mins. speed slow

2. after works over 1 hour , the vci will be heat .

3. update a little complicated need install new DVD and use patch files , but now xcar360 looks provide online update version

all in all

If you need work on New car DOIP
you should buy it!
and worth it.

How to use reset SBC brake on Mercedes W211

One of the MB SD Connect 4 users reported that he cannot reset SBC brake for Mercedes-Benz W211 2005 with new 2015.09V DAS/XENTRY Star diagnostic software. Actually it will. Please follow the instructions below.

 

How to use Benz star diagnostic Platinum Edition to reset SBC?

When you choose SBC system, it will have an option, SBC RESET, after you enter this option, you will see special function, enter this and it will ask for the password, for this password, just fill anything you like, then click next step, then click ok, then follow the prompt to do next.

 

Proper steps here:

Connect MB SD C4 mux with W211 and laptop.

Start Star diagnosis software.

Select chassis: SBC – Sensotronic Brake Control

SD-C4-reset-sbc-brake(1)

Select Control unit adaptions, and click on the tick button to continue.

SD-C4-reset-sbc-brake(1)

Select Special functions and click on the tick button to continue.

SD-C4-reset-sbc-brake(1)

Set a password as you like, then to continue.

SD-C4-reset-sbc-brake(1)

Click OK.

Follow the instruction on the screen to reset SBC brake.

SBC TOOLS RESET
It started like most of them…….
As a request !!
So,it was a combination , of a faulty SBC ,common sence , LOTS of time and GUTS to figure this out

Make sure engine is running !!!

In Developer mode you need to go to Entwickelingsdaten – > ansteueringen -> Gesamstliste aller Ansteuerungen

to see how many times brake has been pressed there is a line that says: Bremsenzahler (DJ_GetBrLive) or DJ_GetBrLiveTime

then 1 line down there you see Bremsenzahler aktualisieren und Lebensdauerzahler F neu berechenen -> click it !
Parameter uINBR = 0
then click F3

1 line down Bremsenzahler auf beliebigen Wert setzen (DJ_SetNBr) -> click it
Parameter uINBR = 0
then click F3
then scroll down untill you see the line’s :

Lebensdauerzahler F neu berechenen (DJ_CalcLiveTime)
Parameter uINBR = 0
then click F3

Lebensdauerzahler F neu berechenen und schreiben (DJ_BuildAndWriteF)
Parameter uINBR = 0
then click F3

Log out of SBC !!
log out of verhicle !!

let engine run at least 10 minutes or drive at least 10 minutes

If no coils are damaged , SBC fault code is not AKTUEL nomore
Note:
(Dj_setNBr) Here you SET new brake counter value back to 0
(Dj_setNBr) uINBR = 0

Resetting break counter to zero is in my opinion , not messing with …..

each time SBC powers up it checks itself time after time
If there occures any problem in SBC unit with valve,brushes or whatever , it will go into error anyway. that you will NOT be able to erase in Dev mode

If you switch on contact of Brand new MB with SBC and press break 300.000 times it will go into this so called “error” you wanna say SBC is broken then ? without driving a milimeter ?

No it’s indication to have SBC unit checked by MB workshop $$

Yes it’s true that MB has to replace Faulty SBC units for free
since Factory will pay all there labor & material
But most Dealers try to have costumer pay for this procedure claiming costumers car has no a Dealer serviced History

How to Read and Write Bosch ECU MED17.5 via OBD and Boot Mode

The ECU is built on the Infineon TriCore TC1766 processor.

In the processor chip is a flash memory in volume of 1504 bytes and EEPROM in 32 bytes.

There are two ways to read-write a block: via the OBD connector and through the BSL bootloader (the so-called boot-mode)
Each of the methods has its advantages and disadvantages.

Read-write via OBD:
pros:
fastly-
no ventilation of the ECU is required
Against:
-It is only read data with calibrations, it is saved
not possible on all computers to read and write because of the installed protection system
TPROT-ECU reprogramming counter is increased

Read-write via Boot-mode
pros:
-access to all flash memory and its industry-the
ECU reprogramming counter does not increase
Against:
-Need to remove from the machine and then disassembled

For programming, the FGTech Galletto v54 or its Chinese clone is most often used

To connect to the ECU on the table for OBD reading, you must use the following wiring:

1 - ground
5, 87, 92 - + 12V
67 - can high
68 - may be weak

And if you are working with the ECU on the table by "boot mode" you have to use the following contacts:
1 - ground
5 - + 12V
87, 92 - ignition
67 - can high
68 - may be weak
And in addition, you have to connect with a gray wire (or solder at 1km from the ground) to the "boot" point on the board itself

For indiscriminate read-write, the standard procedure is used.
But in case of transfer of the device to "boot mode" the program will require at certain stages of work to reset the power of the computer.

Maintenance of the PANASONIC CF18s ceased in May 2014 and they can no longer be registered.

Follow this steps :
1.- Install ODIS-S as usual but NO restart !
2.- Rename the folder Softing from Program Files (x86) (or Program Files) to Softing.ori
3.- Copy the downloaded Softing folder to Program Files (x86) (or Program Files).
4.- Restart
5.- Install Postsetup
6.- Install ODIS-E 8.1.3 as usual
7.- Thats All !

UPDATE :
– Replace Softing directory with the updated directory and you get this…

Q: the question is to put our old SOFTING folder, and then, inside the D-PDU API folder, there are a couple of folders, and the one that puts 1.20.041, change the name by 1.20.042, to me It worked, thank you very much

 

A: Everything is much simpler.
Replace all files in the C: \ Program Files (x86) \ Softing \ D-PDU API \ 1.20.042 \ VeCom \ VAS5054 folder with the files from the PDU 41.
There is nothing else to rename and reinstall.

A: For windows xp the last version of odis that you can use is 2.0.2…………..
For all other versions after 2.0.2 you will not have access to many ecu’s so this means no even Vin recognize, ect……………

Download vas 5054a ODIS-S 4.3.3n Windows 7 but had a problem:

Update file missing

Infrastructure VW online connection. MirrorServer2:

The update is not complete.

All required updates are not available.

Please contact support.

 

I found a solution to solve it by editing the lic. file – so that just vag “basic” products are valid/active…. but you have to give this file to the installer during the process, just swapping in the offboard folder hasn’t solved my issue…

And then, of course there’s no full activation and not all brands but it seems you could run odis 4.3.3 with the “basic vag brands” and with this installer and the current postsetups

Hopefully, guss could solve this “problem” for us, so that we are fully activated with all the brands then

VVDI 2 BMW V4.9.0 is able to read the ISN from MSD and MSV ECUs (included : MSV80, MSV801, MSD80, MSD801, MSV802, MSV812, MSV851, MEVD17xx-E series, MEV17N46/ME17N45-E series)

Steps:
1. Pls open VVDI 2 BMW V4.9.0 ,click on "Key learn " then "ECU ISN" .

(Solved) ISTA-P folder not exist, improper PC shutdown

I have solved an ISTA-P problem that happen in case of improper shutdown of windows 7 32bit, ISTAP version 3.61.5.000.

With help of users > darckreign1984 and AutoExe3219 I was able to discover following. 8 hours of labor.

If you see a screen, that ISTA-P folder does not exist anymore, just check if there is a folder named Dataprocurement in following two directories :

istap-fail

C:\ProgramData\BMW\ISPI\data\TRIC\ISTA-P\BMW
C:\ProgramData\BMW\ISPI\data\TRIC\ISTA-P\Taurus

If there is no such directories, you must copy them from another location in the PC. The location is :

C:\Users\Administrator\AppData\Roaming\BMW Group\BMW ISTA-P Loader V6.1F\6.1.1.0\dataprocurement

There ate the two separate directories that simply have to be copied to the directories listed above. Then just start the loader and fill up the form with a data that you want. Then, from the loader page choose BMW cars and you are good to go.
Loader_Success

Remember. Never try to shut down the PC before the loader is completelu shut down.

Make a backup of the critical locations to be able to make a restore in case of such accident.

Maybe this thread could be a sticky one.

After 2015, all Star Diagnosis equipment is no longer supported. First of all, this means that there is no update of the diagnostic data for the newest cars and their systems, as well as the lack of the possibility of coding and programming of electronic units due to the backlog of the software data level in the device, from data in the electronic control units of the car.
Already at the end of 2014, at most dealerships, almost all of the previously used Star Diagnosis Compact4 with SDConnect DoIP multiplexers were almost completely removed. Instead, dealers received Xentry Kit kits, which include the latest Xentry Connect multiplexers and Xentry Tab tablets from Panasonic. Tablets are custom-made, although they also have a "civilian" version - the Panasonic Toughbook CF-D1, somewhat inferior in terms of battery life to the original Xentry Tab, but it has a much more powerful configuration.

Short and simple: “DoIP is the packaging of diagnostic messages

  • DoIP is used in combination with the standardized diagnostic protocol

higher bandwidth

  • Vehicle access with DoIP is backwards compatible using discretionary

The DOIP Requet a powerful device than old one beofore 2015 . so we should have the new one Xentry connect C5 to instead of old one like SD CONNECT C4 MB STAR C3 and fake sd connect c5.

The SD CONNECT C4 MB STAR C3 and fake sd connect c5 couldn't support DOIP  .

that means it can't works on new mercedes car like W222 S-class!

How to solve SDconnect tookit error SD CONNECT toolkit didn't work

Here are customer solutions of what to do if SD connect Toolkit COM-Server has stopped functioning.

 

Some folks inform tried and solved it this way. (i have not tried this)

1. Open Taskmanager an Kill all Processes of SDconnect Toolkit(Tkserver.exeTktray.exe).
2. Go to DTS install folder and find the folder with the Tkserver.exe in it.
3. Delete this folder.
4. Install SDconnect toolkit from here:

  1. Go to original SDconnect Path (C:\Program Files (x86)\Mercedes-Benz\SDconnect Toolkit\
    6. Copy filesToolkit.ini + SDVersion.dll
    7. Paste Toolkit.ini in C:\ProgramData\I+ME ACTIA\Toolkit\ and SDVersion.dllin Install-Directory of the new SDconnect Toolkit.
    8. Start SDconnect Toolkit from Startmenu (the SDconnect folder in Root of “All Programs”, not the one in “Mercedes-Benz” folder)

but i have another way that seems to work.
have not tried on vehicle yet but at least i get no more errors.

my base is a win 7 x64 system.
i have a clean and working installation of xentry xdos 05.2016.
but it should work with other Xentry versions too.

Now you install DTS Monaco and the Daimler Addon.
In my case it was Monaco 8.3.12 and the “setup_addon_dag.exe”.
Now restart the PC. You notice that the sdconnect toolkit does not start anymore.
Delete the “Start SDconnect Server” shortcut from the autostart folder.
Now restart the pc again or open the taskmanager and kill the process TkTray.exeand TkServer.exe.

Now you browse to “C:\Program Files (x86)\Mercedes-Benz\SDConnect toolkit\”.
Copy everything that is in that folder. (should be 6 subfolders, bin, doc, selftest and the update folders)

Now browse to “C:\Program Files (x86)\Softing\Diagnostic Tool Set 8\8.03\Interfaces\DCDI_DPduApi\eCOM_Toolkit”.
Delete everything that is in this folder.
Now paste the folders/files you copied from the Mercedes folder here.

Open the “bin” folder and copy the toolkit.ini file.
Or go back to the Mercedes folder and copy the toolkit.ini file from there.
Paste and replace this file into “C:\ProgramData\I+ME ACTIA\Toolkit”
(Note, the C:\ProgramData folder:

It is a hidden folderon Win7. I do not talk about c:\program files\ or c:\program files (x86)\ (name of these folders might be different if your windows is not english)
(you can get the right folder by opening the explorer and typing in the adress bar %programdata%)

With Win XP i guess the right folder could be something like “C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data”.
You could also try to just search for the toolkit.ini file on the whole C:\ drive. Should give you the location as well.)

Now restart the pc again.

In my case, deleting the autostart prevents the toolkit to start from the mercedes folder.
thanks to monaco the toolkit from the softing/interfaces/ecom folder will now start.
by replacing the toolkit in that folder we trick the system into starting a copy of the original toolkit.
my toolkit now starts without an error. i can open it again and everything seems to work. before it did not start at all or i got error messages.

What is J2534?

J2534 is an interface standard designed by SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) and mandated by the US EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) for vehicle ECU reprogramming. Its purpose is to create an API (Application Programming Interface) which would be adopted by all vehicle manufacturers, allowing the Independent Aftermarket (IAM) the ability to reprogram ECU’s without the need for a special dealer-only tool.

What is J2534-1 and J2534-2?

There are two parts to SAE J2534 -> -1 and -2.
SAE J2534-1 defines features for a device that performs ECU reprogramming of emission ECUs (and could also apply to non-emission ECUs).
 
SAE J2534-2 defines optional features for a device that performs ECU reprogramming on other non-emission ECUs as well. It also offers a way for an OEM to reprogram all ECUs on their vehicles "using J2534" by releasing and publishing necessary protocol information about non-emission ECUs.
 
What vehicles are affected?
 
The US EPA regulation mandates that automotive OEMs must comply with SAE J2534 pass-through reprogramming from model year 2004 and forward for their Powertrain ECU’s. If an OEM cannot comply with J2534 by model year 2004, they may request one year additional extension to become J2534 compliant. Additionally, the specification includes a provision that allows OEMs to use the J2534 reprogramming method on 1996 through 2003 model year vehicles as long as OEMs make all necessary additional hardware (i.e. vehicle connection cables for use with device and/or it’s auxiliary pin) available to the aftermarket. If an OEM cannot retroactively implement the J2534 pass-through reprogramming solution with or without special cables, they must make available to equipment and tool companies any information needed to develop aftermarket equivalents of their OEM-specific reprogramming hardware and software.
 
Can I reprogram all vehicle ECUs?
 
J2534 pass-thru reprogramming is only required for emissions based ECUs (eg. Powertrain, Engine, Transmission, Throttle Controller) and is mandatory on all vehicles from model year 2004 and forward. Additional support of reprogramming Chassis and Body ECUs will be dependent on each individual manufacturer’s reprogramming application software capabilities.
 
Can I reprogram any Powertrain ECU?
 
Only those Powertrain ECU’s which are emissions-related and are Flash reprogrammable may be reprogrammed. Plus, the OEM will have to be performing reprogramming in its dealership on the particular Powertrain ECU as well.
 
Does J2534 affect all OEMs?
 
Yes, all OEM’s that sell vehicles in North America and support ECU reprogramming in their dealerships for emissions-related systems must comply.
When does the legislation take effect?All OEM’s must have their ECU calibrations available by June 2005.
 
Where do I get the reprogramming application software from?
 
Each OEM is required to make available their ECU Reprogramming Application software on their own service information web sites. If ECU Reprogramming is practiced in the dealership, then it is the responsibility of each OEM to maintain and update their own sites, and keep current applications available for download. Note that a fee set by the OEM may apply.
 
Where do I get the ECU reprogramming calibrations from?
 
Each OEM is required to make available their ECU reprogramming calibrations on their own service information web sites. If ECU reprogramming is practiced in the dealership, then it is the responsibility of each OEM to maintain and update their own sites, and keep current calibrations available for download. Note that a fee set by the OEM may apply.
 
Are the ECU reprogramming calibrations free downloads?
 
Each OEM typically charges a fee for use of their site and/or for the ECU calibration download. These fees vary from OEM to OEM.
Does the ECU reprogramming event utilize my Scan Tool?A J2534 compliant device for ECU reprogramming is considered a vehicle interface. A device requires a Windows-based PC (on which the reprogramming application software operates), with a USB or Ethernet port, and an internet connection (for Internet access to obtain reprogramming application software and calibration files).
 
Will I still need my Scan Tool?
 
Yes, J2534 reprogramming application software typically does not incorporate diagnostic Scan Tool functions that must be utilized to perform post-reprogramming tasks (such as clear DTCs or re-learn procedures). This is dependent upon the make and model of vehicle.
 
How long does a J2534 ECU reprogramming event take?
 
The programming time varies among vehicles based on communication speed of the protocol used, calibration file size, total number of calibration files, the number of ECUs to reprogram, and Internet connection (latter is dependent on OEM). Newer vehicles with CAN protocol may be as fast as 2 minutes, while vehicles with CAN that have a lot of data to download will take well over an hour. Older vehicles without CAN can take anywhere from 15 to 60 minutes.
 
Is a high-speed internet connection required?
 
High-speed Internet connection is highly recommended. You will be required to download the calibration files directly from the OEM websites, so shorter downloads equate to quicker reprogram times. Prevalent with European car makes, in some cases the OEM will require a direct connection between the vehicle, the in-shop PC (running the reprogramming application software) and the OEM server. It’s this latter condition that requires the speedy high-speed connection. Consult OEM website guidance for minimum Internet connection specification requirements.
 
What is critical for successful ECU reprogramming?
 
There a 3 key points that need to be followed for successful reprogramming.
  1. The vehicle’s system voltage must remain constant (specified by OE) during the reprogramming.
  2. The vehicle’s electrical system needs to be functioning properly (e.g. battery state of charge and state of health, cable connections and alternator charge performance). Note: Battery Testers can be a key addition to ensure these systems are up to the task of reprogramming.
  3. Follow the manufacturer’s reprogramming instructions in a step-by-step manner!

What tools does Bosch Diagnostic offer to fill my J2534 reprogramming needs?

Mastertech VCI, Flasher Pro, and Flasher LT support aftermarket reprogramming functions offered by OEM reprogramming application software. The General Motors MDI can also be used in the aftermarket although its intended use is with GM TIS.

Which vehicles can be reprogrammed using Bosch J2534 tools?

Vehicles with ECUs that can be reprogrammed are defined by the automotive OEM. Consult the OEM application guide for vehicles and ECUs that can be reprogrammed using the J2534 function. A check of the OEM service information website is often a good place to start. In addition, www.nastf.org may also contain helpful application information.

Answer: I can only tell you that I updated mine for Mercedes and chevy right after I registered it

Question: can you program the abs module with this
Answer:DS708 can not program the abs module.Only maxisys pro can do it

Question: Is it availalable with standard package which has less adapters and cables?
Answer:Yes, we have standard package Autel Maxidas DS808.

Question: Is it difficult to register this device? And can it support Spanish?
Answer: Registering the device was easy. You simply go to autel’s website and set up an account. Once you do that you take the registration code/passcode from the scan tool and register it on the website. You then make sure that the scan tool is hooked up to your wifi which is setup in settings. Then you are ready to update the scan tool with the latest software.
Changing the language settings is also easy. You simply do that in settings as well and have multiple different choices. I do know Spanish was one of them. I returned mine because it could not code or reset any adaptaions in any modules on my vehicles. My vehicles are about 15 years old and I think the support on older vehicles goes away with the updates. It probably has more capabilities on the newer vehicles. I should have purchased one of these 5 years ago and never updated it so that the scan tool could retain its capabilities.

Question: Can i use for other connections besides OBD2?
Answer: Yes, this is full set version, it is included with many cables and adapter which are not OBD2.

Question: What is the head set used for with the scan tool
Answer:It’s not used with the tool is just a free give away to get you to buy an outdated tool that according to autel there will be no more updates after Dec 2017. I sent it back because I couldn’t get it to update or more like it removed software during update which is another common complaint on their site. I feel it’s dishonest to sell things claiming a year full updates and it’s not a year is much less than a year but I guess China isn’t afraid of a class action for fraud.

Question: Does it do tire pressure and how about the free headset?
Answer:It will perform limited tire pressure functions (i.e. Read it) if the ECU program allows it via OBD II connector. The free head phones are surprisingly very good, they are comfortable, easy to use, battery lasts a long time and rechargeable.

Question: Does this tool have bi-directional control and diagnostics for the Body control Module?
Answer: Yes, of course, it can support it.

Question: can it program tpms sensor
Answer: It can put the car into programing mode but you will need a tpms sensor tool

Question: Can it do a power balance on a ford 2006 f350 diesel?
Answer: Yes, it can be supported.

Question: can i use in Spanish language ?
Answer: may we know what’s your serial No. of your DS708? To change language, you need to download all the software again, so your device needs to be within the updating period. If it is still within updating preriod, please provide us the serial No. and we can ask Autel to authorize Spanish for you.

Question: can this unit be used to relearn the idle, on a 2010 chevy 1500 silverado z71, auto trans, 5.3
Answer: Yes, it can be supported.

Question: Dose it work on 24v truck
Answer: Mine is a 708 and is 12 volt only. You may have to get one for heavy duty trucks, depending on the make. Sorry I couldn’t help.

What the process of ECU diagnosis and program

ECU diagnosis often when the program to brush out the ECU, the general non-developers are using the diagnostic brush program. Some can use the ECU vendor to provide a small software brush program. Because the application environment is different, maintenance personnel brush procedures need to consider more permissions and stability requirements, then talk about the use of diagnostic brush program, the diagnostic apparatus which services are called. This is the default using UDS diagnostic protocol. The Flash process here is common to all ECUs.

Flash process
1. Change the ECU status to the extended state; call Session Control = Extended Session

2. Read the ECU ID information, check the hardware information and the old software version number; call Read Data by Identify

3. Check whether the conditions of the brush ECU are ready, such as whether the engine is off; call the written Routine

4. Close the DTC service; call Control DTC Setting = off

5. Turn off CAN communication; call Comunication Control

6. Change the ECU status to start programming; call Session Control = Start Programm

7. Diagnostic instrument authorization; call Security Assess

8. Update the history, record the time and success of each brush program; call Write Data by ID-Write Fingerprint

9. Download the first part of the driver to remove the software; call Request Download

10. Delete the old software; call Routine

11. Download the second part of the driver for downloading new software; call Request Download

12. Download the new software; call Request Download

13. Verify that the software is authorized; call Routine

14. Check the software is complete; call Routine

15. Set the parameter variable, usually according to the old software parameters; call Write Data by Identify

16. Restart the ECU; call ECU Reset

17. Reboot CAN communication; call Communication Control

18. Restart the DTC service; call Control DTC

19. End of diagnosis, change the ECU as the default state; call Session Control = default Session

How to solve SDconnect TOOLKIT didn't work problem

Here are customer solutions of what to do if SD connect Toolkit COM-Server has stopped functioning.

 

Some folks inform tried and solved it this way. (i have not tried this)

1. Open Taskmanager an Kill all Processes of SDconnect Toolkit(Tkserver.exeTktray.exe).
2. Go to DTS install folder and find the folder with the Tkserver.exe in it.
3. Delete this folder.
4. Install SDconnect toolkit from here:

  1. Go to original SDconnect Path (C:\Program Files (x86)\Mercedes-Benz\SDconnect Toolkit\
    6. Copy filesToolkit.ini + SDVersion.dll
    7. Paste Toolkit.ini in C:\ProgramData\I+ME ACTIA\Toolkit\ and SDVersion.dllin Install-Directory of the new SDconnect Toolkit.
    8. Start SDconnect Toolkit from Startmenu (the SDconnect folder in Root of “All Programs”, not the one in “Mercedes-Benz” folder)

but i have another way that seems to work.
have not tried on vehicle yet but at least i get no more errors.

my base is a win 7 x64 system.
i have a clean and working installation of xentry xdos 05.2016.
but it should work with other Xentry versions too.

Now you install DTS Monaco and the Daimler Addon.
In my case it was Monaco 8.3.12 and the “setup_addon_dag.exe”.
Now restart the PC. You notice that the sdconnect toolkit does not start anymore.
Delete the “Start SDconnect Server” shortcut from the autostart folder.
Now restart the pc again or open the taskmanager and kill the process TkTray.exeand TkServer.exe.

Now you browse to “C:\Program Files (x86)\Mercedes-Benz\SDConnect toolkit\”.
Copy everything that is in that folder. (should be 6 subfolders, bin, doc, selftest and the update folders)

Now browse to “C:\Program Files (x86)\Softing\Diagnostic Tool Set 8\8.03\Interfaces\DCDI_DPduApi\eCOM_Toolkit”.
Delete everything that is in this folder.
Now paste the folders/files you copied from the Mercedes folder here.

Open the “bin” folder and copy the toolkit.ini file.
Or go back to the Mercedes folder and copy the toolkit.ini file from there.
Paste and replace this file into “C:\ProgramData\I+ME ACTIA\Toolkit”
(Note, the C:\ProgramData folder:

It is a hidden folderon Win7. I do not talk about c:\program files\ or c:\program files (x86)\ (name of these folders might be different if your windows is not english)
(you can get the right folder by opening the explorer and typing in the adress bar %programdata%)

With Win XP i guess the right folder could be something like “C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data”.
You could also try to just search for the toolkit.ini file on the whole C:\ drive. Should give you the location as well.)

Now restart the pc again.

In my case, deleting the autostart prevents the toolkit to start from the mercedes folder.
thanks to monaco the toolkit from the softing/interfaces/ecom folder will now start.
by replacing the toolkit in that folder we trick the system into starting a copy of the original toolkit.
my toolkit now starts without an error. i can open it again and everything seems to work. before it did not start at all or i got error messages.

Some Solution for WiTech connection issues - need to register device

Note as of 8-22-17 , .
Chrysler issued an update in July that effected many owners of the original Mopar MicroPod2 and the clones. I'm one of the people effected. So I started messing around trying this and trying that to see if I could get it working again as I need it to scan my own family members vehicle. 
So I started looking into MicroPod2 issues and maybe its a firmware problem or something along that nature. Well the Micropod Model ID does cause an issue because its now on a blacklist unless you register your device. 
When playing around I found a string in one of the files that I deleted and I was able to connect to my vehicle again....
So using the latest 17.04.27 Witech I removed this one line of code and I get an error once connected to my car about the whole Witech 2.0/1.0 crap.....
So I removed the Witech 17.04.27 software and jumped backwards to Witech 16.05.15. I went back in and removed the same line of code and reconnected to my car. I would get an error message of "*********" . So I ignored it and "X"'d out the window. Clicked "Next" so the next screen shows up and I selected "Offline" for usage. 
Now keep in mind this whole time I am "NOT" connected to the internet!!!
Using Witech 16.05.15 I was able to connect to my vehicle without any issues at all! Now someone may know a fix around the error window that pops up and that's great, I'm hoping someone figures that out 


Anyways, in the added pictures you will see the error screen that pops up when using Witech 17.04.27 and then the actual connection to my vehicle when using Witech 16.05.15. (pictures are now removed)
Now I have tested various versions of Witech to see if I can make it to the connection screen to where it wants to connect to the car. Granted I was "NOT" at my car when the software was trying to connect as I tried 8 different versions of Witech in the past 3 1/2 hours and I did not want to go back and forth trying each one. It's also currently 2:41am while I'm typing this....
Now the code I changed was in the Witech software itself. I went to the file:
"PM me for the information"
Then edited the file titled "********"
There is a line in that code about half way down in a section titled "*****". I simply deleted the code for *************....
You may need an editor to do this, but my "NotePad" allowed me to edit it. Here is what I deleted:

Now your "value" may be different, I don't know as I'm not a programmer....
Once I deleted that section using the notepad, I saved the file. Closed everything out and restarted the witech server and the witech software and I was able to connect to my car. 
Remember, my internet was SHUT OFF while doing this

How to register BMW New Battery by INPA or Ediabas

The battery needs to be registered when you replace it on BMW 7 series (5 series, 6 series etc). Here is the customer solution to show you how to register new battery with INPA or Ediabas toolset32.

first go to file then click F3 then select POW_E65.prg

in the second pic double click the command (steuern_batterietausch_registrieren) just ones and you are done .

remember this is for registering the same size battery not for retrofitting another size , if you want to retrofit 90AGM battery you need to register the battery with DIS/ISTA because DIS/ISTA well register only 90AGM battery , if you want to retrofit another battery size you have to use NCS expert.

FAQ about register BMW battery:
Q: We always used inpa. Should i use both or registering with inpa is enough
A: registering ones is enough , some ppl have problem with INPA registering there battery so i put toolset32 .

Q: what is this battery thing ( registration ) with what the car computer
So if you take out the battery and say get a sears diehard gold . what happens can someone
explain . will another battery work ( doesn’t it just see a 12 volt power supply

A:You need AGM battery. It must be registered. Otherwise it wont charge properly. Our cars are very sensitive. If your battery is low or doesn’t get charged properly u will get different errors and faults. Your car need to know how it needs to charge battery thats why u need to register it. You can go to dealer, or u can set up bmw tools and do it yourself.

Q: Where do i get the software and cables to register my battery ?
A: BMW ICOM Next or BMW ICOM A2 with ISTA and engineering software INPA, Ediabas, Ncs expert etc. Check here BMW ICOM NEXT A+B+C with V2017.05 Software ISTA-D 4.05.20
ISTA-P 3.61.4.002 etc. You can also download ista torrent on forums and use with INPA K+DCAN cable. (You are at your risk. Better using ICOM emulator). If you are not good using software programmers, you can buy Foxwell NT510 BMW multi-system scanner that can be directly plugged into the OBD II port. It is located by the drivers door Behind a little flap near the lower hinge area. It is more expensive but can do more things and is specifically programmed for BMW/Mini.

Q:
The error above should be with INPA (using INPA ) I get “group file: D_POW.SYS-0012: Identification error” with no space between D and : but the system is making it an emoticon.


A:You might need to Update your Daten files . Better buy newer software package.

How to install bmw scanner 1.40 in WIN7 32BIT or 64bit

Here is the instruction on install BMW Scanner v1.40  Pa-soft software on both Windows 7 32 bit and 64 bit.

If the driver is not compatible with Windows 7 or you have not logged in as “Administrator”, latest win 7 driver can be downloaded here:

The USB driver can be installed for win7 32 bits without any issue. But for Win7 64-bit, you need to download the latest driver from www.ftdichip.com.

 

 

BMW scanner 1.4.0 USB driver on Win 7 32-bit instruction:

 

1) Remember where the folder/the program is installed. This will help to tell Win 7 O/S to locate the USB driver. For example: I:\3 in 1\bmwscan140a\bmw 140 driver.

 

2). Click Window “Start” button and chose “Control Panel” GUI button

 

3) Select “System” and then “Device Manager” GUI button

 

4) Select “Universal Serial Bus controller”

 

5) Select the USB device that is labeled as “BMW Scanner

 

6) Right click to invoke sub menu of the “BMW Scanner”

Select “Update Driver Software”

 

7) Select “Browse My Computer for Driver Software”

 

Click “Browse” and locate where the software folder is located. And tick “Includes subfolders” as well.

 

9) Locate “BMW V1.4.0 Drivers” folder and press the “OK” button.

 

10) Check the folder is correct and click on the “NEXT” button to install the USB driver.

 

11) When the system will display “The best driver software for your device is up to date” message, the BMW scanner driver is well installed on Win 7,

 

12) Right click on the BMW Scanner and select “Properties” to confirm “The driver is working properly”. Please ensure that you MUST have “administrator right” to install the USB driver.

 

13) Plug the BMW scanner 1.4 cable with vehicle via OBD diagnostic socket. The label should be facing to the door with the LED light turn ON.

 

If your BMW model has 22-pin diagnostic socket, you properly need another BMW 20-pin to OBD2 16-Pin Connector.

You need:

BMW INPA K+DCAN cable (i used 2016 version with a switch)

working NCS EXPERT software

valid daten files for your car

Model:

BMW E89

(this method applies to all BMW E series)

 

BMW CIC retrofit coding procedure:

connect the BMW K+DCAN cable to the car

read VO

program CAS and FRM/ NFRM for CIC retrofit

run NCS Expert software

select File-> Read Profile

select Expert mode

press F1 or click the VIN/ZSC/FA button

press F3 or click the ZSC/FA| ECU button

select CHASSIS: E89 for E9x models

then select ECU: CAS

note: VO on CAS and FRM pr NFRM needs to be changed

then get the car details identified (CHASSIS, FG, FA)

press F2 or click the Enter FA button

select CHASSIS: E89

check VIN and click OK

highlight old build date

e.g. #0607 add press delete

(keep note of your build date)

add build date #0909 for E9x CIC.

later date needed for combox (possible #0910)

add &6VA and press OK

press the BACK button

then press PROCESS ECU

note: avoid Process car as it programs every module (RISKY), and not needed

select ECU: CAS

press CHANGE JOB to: FA_WRITE)

check for FA_WRITE and EXCUTE JOB

press CHANGE ECU

select ECU: NFRM

note: FRM module or NFRM depending on model

EXCUTE JOB again to make sure FA_WRITE and correct module selected

coding done!!

Now to make sure the coding went well in the new VO and the CAS, FRM/ NFRM

again, run NCS EXPERT software

select File-> Load Profile

select Expert mode

press VIN/ZSC/FA

press ZSC/FA| ECU

select CHASSIS: E89

select ECU: CAS

press ENTER FA

select CHASSIS: E89

check VIN and click OK

!! check build date #0909 and &6VA you added just now

then press BACK

press ZCS/ FA f. ECU

select ECU: NFRM

press ENTER FA

select CHASSIS: E89

coding done & verified!

now to default coding the CIC unit to recognize your cars features, such as AS PDC, Bluetooth…

again, run NCS EXPERT software

select File-> Load Profile

select Expert mode

select CHASSIS: E89

select ECU: CAS

press BACK

press PROCESS ECU

select ECU: CIC

note:

CIC now should be displayed in the list of modules

press CHANGE JOB to make sure that SG-CODEREN is selected by JOBNAME

the CIC unit will reboot and load up with all of your options

I downloada gs19.ipo file to do my reset as I have the alpina and it wouldn’t work so now it does but I got this message:

“nicht zusammenpassende versionen fehlfunktion ist moglich” which translated says

“Mismatched versions malfunction is possible”

There are reset jobs/functions in Tool32 that I find is more reliable. Just be prepared to follow the proper “re-learning” procedures afterwards. Check detail guide below:
Automatic transmissions are fickle beasts which can be astronomically expensive if not maintained. Throw in the fact that it’s a BMW, and the need for regular maintenance becomes quite clear. Unfortunately, a fluid and filter change is not as easy as it used to be.

When hard parts are replaced in a transmission or the fluid is changed, resetting the transmission’s adaptations may become necessary to restore shift quality. The ZF 6-speed automatic used in many E90-based vehicles like the 335i, X1, and 135i (among others) is an expensive transmission, and fluid replacement w/adaptation reset can be a great way to extend the life of it. This article should apply to any E-series vehicle that uses the ZF 6-Speed “Steptronic” Automatic.
When should I reset adaptations?
-When the fluid is changed
-When the software is updated (i.e. Alpina B3 Flash)
-When hard parts are replaced inside the transmission
Warning: If you have the capability of resetting transmission adaptations with INPA, I urge you not to do it unless you have the time and roadways to complete the relearn process exactly as described. This procedure will cause the transmission to shift poorly at a detriment to the gearbox if the relearn is not performed immediately and properly. It is better to change the fluid and NOT reset adaptations, than to reset them and not perform the proper relearn procedure.

To interface with your BMW you will need a BMW INPA K+DCAN Cable, which is a USB to OBD-II interface cable. We won’t be coding any modules or doing intensive flashing, so even a budget cable is likely to work, though.

 

Software Installation
To get INPA (as well as other coding features not needed in this article) BMW Standard Tools must be installed. Here are details instructions on how to install it:

 

 

Resetting Adaptations
Turn the vehicle’s ignition on but do not start the car by pressing the start button twice. Plug in the K+DCAN adapter to the vehicle and laptop. Execute INPA. When INPA is loaded, the battery and ignition bubbles should be filled in to indicate it has established communication with the vehicle.
Press shift+F8 for E90 based vehicles:

Select Transmission, then select GS19:

 

Press F6 Activate:

Press F3 to reset transmission adaptation values:

After pressing F3 the software should confirm the adaptations are reset and you can begin the process of relearning.

 

Relearning Adaptations
The most important part of resetting transmission adaptations is the re-learn process. Refer to the chart below to see which re-learn procedure your vehicle needs after its transmission adaptations are reset. Your vehicle’s build date will be on the sticker in the driver’s door jamb.

This blog will guide you how use NCS Expert and cheap BMW INPA K+DCAN USB Interface to code E90 335i 2008 Digital Speedometer!

 

All you need to prepare:

  1. A WIN 7 or WIN10 laptop with NCS Expert software.
  2. BMW INPA Cable $15.99 or INPA K+DCAN Cable with switch $17.99, both OK.

 

Step 1

Turn on car ignition and turn off anything that will run down car battery like headlight. (Make sure car battery is stable during the coding, or connect car with power supply)

Plug the INPA cable into car OBD2 port and the red LED will be on.

And connect the other USB end with laptop.

 

Step 2

Open BMW NCS Expert software.

Click the “File” button on top bar, choose “Load Profile” and “Revtor’s NCS Expert Profile”.

 

Click F1 button.

Click F3 button to select chassis E89. (BMW E89 is same with E90, E91 and E92)

 

Click F6 button to back.

 

Step 3

Click F4 button to choose ECU KOMBI.

 

Click F2 button to change job name and choose job: CODIERINDEX_LESEN. (It means to read code index)

 

Click F3 button to execute the job.

Then Job ended.

 

 

Step 4

Go to the Local Disk C: then folder NCSEXPER then folder WORK

Find the file FSW_PSW.TRC.

 

Open the file FSW_PSW.TRC, Control button + F to search “DIGITAL”.

And you can find this parameter “BC_DIGITAL_V”

Change the value from “nicht_aktiv” to “aktiv”.

Step 5

Save the change.

Click the “File” button on top bar, choose “Save as”.

Change the file name to “FSW_PSW.MAN”.

Click “Save” button and click “Yes” to replace the old FSW_PSW.MAN file.

Click F5 button to select basic function: coapiReadSgGetFswPsw

Basic function perfect ended.

 

Step 6

Click F2 button change job to choose SG_CODIEREN.

Then click F3 button to execute the job.

Wait it complete. Coding ended.

In this way you successfully make digital speedometer show on your Bimmer dashboard by cheap BMW INPA K+DCAN cable!

What is Injector code , and why code injectors

To code or not to code that is the question…..?

 In days gone by, diesel injectors although cumbersome to fit, were generally seen as plug and play. However, since the advent of common rail diesel systems, and in turn common rail injectors, the garage can often be left confused or unsure as to whether an Injector needs coding or not. 

Common rail diesel systems offers a number of benefits over traditional diesel systems, such as improved performance, lowered fuel consumption and quieter engines. Another significant advantage of a common rail system is its ability to uniquely reduce emissions, the buzz word on the lips of every Eurocrat.  

So why code injectors? An injector code, typically known as an IMA code (Bosch and Siemens) or a calibration code (Delphi), is a code that is programmed to the ECU for accurate communication and Injection control. With ever increasing emissions legislation and tightening of limits, vehicle manufacturers have been forced to more accurately control the flow of fuel going into the engine to optimize the efficiency of the combustion process and control emissions within acceptable limits... 

The IMA coding is an industry standard: Injector Menge Abgleichung (injector Quantity Offset). When an injector goes through the OE test it generates an IMA code which identifies where in the tolerance range the needle and nozzle assembly fit, this allows the ECU to vary the fueling accordingly and optimize the engine performance. Failure to code in the injectors can result in several issues:

  • Performance – In some systems it may be possible to drive away and not notice any difference. In reality, if the injectors have not been coded, it is unlikely that the customer will be getting the optimum performance from the vehicle and may well end up back at the garage with an increase in fuel consumption or black smoke etc.
  • Non start – In newer systems if you do not code in the injectors the vehicle will not start
  • Poor / lumpy running – as the injectors are not coded, the ECU will carry on fueling as if the previous injector was still present, which can cause poor performance. The engine management light is also likely to come on   necessitating another visit to the garage.  

 

How do I know if the injector I have purchased needs coding?

 DELPHI Common Rail Injectors – All require coding to the engine. Typical code is 16 alphanumeric characters (C2i Injectors) or 20 characters for more recent applications (C3i injectors). Code typically found on Injector head.  

DENSO Common Rail Injectors – As a rule, all require coding, although some very early releases may not. Typical code length is 16-24 alphanumeric characters dependent upon vehicle marquee. Code typically found on Injector head. You can also use the QR code found on the injector for this information.  

VDO/Siemens Common Rail Injectors Injector’s – Only VW applications at this moment require coding. Typical length is 6 digits and found on the injector head. 

BOSCH Common Rail Injectors – As a rule all require coding, although some earlier releases may not, in simple terms if an IMA code is present then the injector will need coding. Typical length of code is 6-10 digits and found on Injector head.

N.B. – The coding information above is related to new diesel  Injectors. A remanufactured injector if purchased from an Authorized Field Repairer will also have a new calibration code, which is typically affixed to the injector as a sticker or label.

 

How can do Injector coding

The injector coding number should be noted by the technician prior to fitting the new injectors and after replacement is completed the technician can then program in the new injector numbers to replace the ones previously programmed into the ECU

Injector programming can be carried out with high level Diagnostic Scan Tools such as Autel Maxisys pro. Autel maxisys ms906bt

Care must be taken when reading the identification code stamped on the injector to ensure the correct number is entered into the ECU for the corresponding cylinder. Inputting an incorrect number or fitting the wrong injectors for the engine will result in the injector failing the programming procedure.

Information: Modifications to the hardware and software of the DME control module is not allowed.

Any alterations in the electronics or software (e.g. in order to improve the engine performance) may

have various effects, including a change in the permissible values for fuel consumption or exhaust and

noise emissions.

Starting with MY’02 911 Turbo (996) and MY’02 911 (996), you are able to perform a system test to

see whether the DME map data has been tampered with.

PST2 software version 12.0 and higher is able to perform this function.

Tampering with the DME map data will void the warranty.

Work Procedure: 1. Connect PST2 to the diagnostic socket; switch on the PST2.

2. When the PST2 is operational, select the Vehicle type from the Start menu.

3. Start the Automatic control unit search and wait until the search is completed.

4. In the function “Control units”, select DME.

5. In the menu “Function selection”, select “Control unit programming”.

6. Then select “System check”.

7. Then enter the old DME code. (The code obtained from IPAS)

8. The PST2 now states “Switch off ignition”.

9. The PST2 now states “Switch on ignition”.

10. After the system check, the following text appears in the info box in the PST2 display:

11. “Data record is OK” – indicates that there is no tampering.

12. “Data record was tampered with” – indicates that there is tampering.

13. Use the “ESC” button to return to the Start menu.

BMW ENET E-sys clean TPMS Warning of bmw f10

I have used BMW ENET cable E-sys F-series coding software to successfully remove all warnings about TPMS from my NAV – HU_CIC / RDC = nicht_aktiv

 

And now I’m trying to display how to remove the yellow warning light in the instrument cluster.

First search KOMBI for RDC setting, and if that did not work, remove 2VB from VO and VO Code KOMBI, HU_CIC, and RDC

Hmmm…that surprises me that those two did not kill it.

Try this one too:
KL_PREDRIVE_F10_RPA = nicht_aktiv

If unsuccessful, kill 2VB in your VO, and VO Code HU_CIC and KOMBI. RDC has no coding data, so there is nothing to VO Code there.

 

If no luck, load the xml file with the 2VB option removed and VO code those 2 again.

That is why removed it. Now when you VO Code the ECU’s, it won’t enable 2VB like your regular FA that is stored in your car will (assuming you did not go so far as to write the modified FA to the car, and the FA in the car is original).

 

Success! Did everything mentioned above but this time I removed fuse. No more tpms warnings, alerts in nav or instrument panel.

However, while coding the kombi it came up with a CEL out of the blue. It has been 3 days and its still there. I don’t drive the car that much so I’m hoping it goes away on its own.

 

Then i tried this.

Assuming the fault condition no longer exists, to clear the fault code.

1) Launch C:\EDIABAS\Bin\TOOL32.EXE
2) Hit F3
3) Load C:\EDIABAS\Ecu\F01.PRG
4) In the “Select Job: F01” window, select FS_LOESCHEN_FUNKTIONAL
5) Hit F5
6) “Results” window should show “JOB_STATUS = OKAY”

Problem Solved.
CEL is gone. To recap for people wanting to disable TPMS

Pull the fuse in the trunk for TPMS.
Remove 2VB option in VO
HU_CIC / RDC = nicht_aktiv (this removes TPMS options from NAV)
KOMBI / ST_TYR_TIMEOUT = nicht_aktiv
KOMBI /ST_TYR_ALIVE = nicht_aktiv

How to Reset the Tire Pressure Sensor

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) requires all models of cars and light trucks newer than 2008 to be equipped with a tire pressure sensor system. This law was enacted due to the high accident and mortality rate of cars and trucks with overinflated or underinflated tires being involved in tire blowouts or rollover accidents.

Direct or Indirect Monitoring System

There are two types of tire pressure monitoring systems (TPMS): direct and indirect. Each tire pressure system monitors the tire pressure within each of the tires and alerts the driver of low tire pressure (25 percent or more below or above recommended inflation pressure); however, the two systems monitor that pressure in two different ways.

The direct TPMS is used more often in the United States. The sensors are located in the tire pressure valve, which acts as an antenna, or are wrapped around the rim of the wheel with a band clamp. These devices transmit the information to an on-board computer. However, these devices can throw off the balance of a tire and can corrode in severe weather conditions.

The indirect TPMS is used more often in Europe. The sensors are located within the ABS braking system and/or the speed sensors of each wheel. They monitor the speed of the rotations of the wheels for any change since underinflated tires are smaller and rotate faster. Though they do not affect tire balance nor corrode, they must be reset with a scanning tool whenever tires are replaced or rotated.

Resetting Tire Pressure Sensor

  • Determine the type of TPMS system. If your car uses a direct system, resetting the tire pressure sensors may be as simple as pushing a reset button on the dash or following a menu as indicated in your owner's manual. If your car uses an indirect system, the system must be reset using a magnet or scanning tool by either a dealer or one you have bought yourself. Some systems have a reset button inside the glove box that needs to be pressed and held down for three seconds with the ignition on.
  • Inflate the tires. Make sure all tires are properly inflated. Remember you are setting the sensors back to "zero" so all tires must be properly inflated otherwise the sensors will not be calibrated properly and their readings will be incorrect.
  • Check the battery. If your car uses a battery to power the sensor, be sure that it is not dead. It is a good idea to replace the battery every five years. Sometimes this requires replacing the entire sensor unit since the battery is built-in.
  • Recalibrate the transponders. Each wheel has its own transponder. Rotating the wheels changes the location of each responder and the TPMS must learn their new locations. This relearning procedure differs from vehicle to vehicle but may be found in the TPMS chart in your manual or online. It is a good idea to change valve stems when getting new tires if the valve stems are also the tire pressure sensors.
  • Use the magnet method. With the key on but the engine off, press both the lock and unlock buttons on the key fob. After an initial chirp, place a magnet over each of the valve stems until the horn chips for each one in this order: left front, right front, right rear and left rear. Verify that the pressure readings are displayed on the driver information center.
  • Use the scan tool method. If no sensors are being replaced, you can follow the menu prompts for TPMS Reprogramming Procedure listed in the owner's manual.

There are many "myths" and misunderstandings about BMW ECU / DME reprogramming. We hope to help answer and give you solutions to the most commonly asked questions.

1 My mechanic/dealership says that you can’t reprogram, re-code, or swap a used BMW ECU between cars. How can you help me?

 

This is true, but we have the solution!

Ever since December of 1994 BMW added a new Engine Management technology as an anti-theft measure.

The new anti-theft technology is a device called the "EWS", which is also known as the "Immobilizer". This module compares the VIN number of the car between different electronic modules in the car. If the VIN number isn't consistent, the car will not start.

Also the EWS has a password feature called the "Rolling Code" which changes between the modules every time that the car is turned off. This makes it virtually impossible to swap used ECU's between BMW cars.

However, we’ve found a way to work around this.

We can reprogram a used ECU using another VIN number and reset the Rolling Code, virtually making the unit "virgin". Only then, can we successfully exchange and swap a used ECU to work in another BMW car.

2 Why can’t I buy a used BMW ECU online and install into my car myself?

 

Because if you install a used ECU in any BMW, the VIN number and Rolling Code will not match, and it will prevent the car from starting.

The EWS was created for this very purpose. What happens is that the EWS system connects with the key transponder, but fails to properly communicate with the DME. The car might crank, but the DME will never get the "permission" to power the fuel pump and send the spark signals.

.3 When I buy an Exchange BMW DME from you, will the unit be Plug and Play?



Our Exchange ECU's are programmed to your BMW's VIN number.

However, due to the fact that the EWS systems have a random "Rolling Code" we can't guess this code. Therefore, we reset this feature in order to make the ECU "blank".

In order for the unit to work in the car, a DME to EWS Alignment/Synchronization has to be carried out.

This is done using a BMW scanner like a GT1, ISTA, Autologic, Launch X431 or Baum Tool DS2021. It takes 5 minutes to "marry" the ECU to your car, and then the ECU is ready to start the car.

4 If you Repair my ECU, do you I need to “re-flash”, "re-code" or “re-program” the ECU before installing back into my car?



No.

ECU re-programming is not required because most repairs are done on the hardware parts and not on the software programming. Therefore, the programming of the ECU will never be altered.

Every mechanic and dealership will often use different words and terms to explain to you how ECU's and scanners work, which can be confusing.

Here is a quick "definitions guide" to help you understand them better:

  • BMW Scanner: They are used to scan all the electronic modules in the car to find out what may be causing a Check Engine Light to come on, or to define fault codes found in the modules to figure out, and to install software updates on the electronic modules of the vehicle.
  • DME ECU Programming: This is the same as when you install the the Windows Operating System in your desktop computer. This process tells the DME to which car it will installed in and how it should manage the engine performance while the car is working. The reprogramming process takes an average of 45 minutes to 1 hour.
  • DME ECU Recoding: This process sets on the ECU the VIN number, programming codes, and transmission settings. Many times this process is done together with the ECU Programming.
  • DME Alignment/Synchronizing: This is a simple "Copy & Paste" process which takes only 5 minutes. The BMW Scanner copies the "Rolling Code" from the EWS and Pastes it in the DME memory. This process "marries" a new ECU to the vehicle allowing it to start.

Exactly, BSI is not kill,it is in boot mode but car is in economy mode, put BSI in car but star other car and connect +and- in car for read BSI is work 100%.

To explain better my procedure: no problem when you read BSI connected other car will start on the battery of the vehicle you read BSI because the proceed is not fast and your vehicle goes into economy mod then your BSI remains in boot mod and does not want to start your car if you happen redone a reading of your BSI and finally exit the boot mod reading and more concern, especially connect another car started on the battery of the vehicle to read.

You could understand like this: the BSI goes in economy/boot mode because the procedure takes much time – I have to connect another car to the battery of the non-starting car, start the donor-car and then I will be able to connect to the “dead” BSI and revive it by switching off the economy/boot mode.

When you adjust mileage on Peugeot/Citroen, it is best to put BSI out from eco-mode with Diagbox, take out fuse for front wiper and turn parking light on, put charger to battery. It is safe now to adjust mileage with FVDI.

when you program a bsi must always be 13.5V

7. Run ODIS launcher AS ADMINISTATOR, paste your key.
8. ODIS will launch and ask for post setup.
9. UNZIP post setup archive and point ODIS to your UNZIP folder.
10. Enjoy.

If you want to use multiple brands:

1. Install OffboardDiagSetup-Service_VWMCD_4_0_0-B40_5_0_1
2. When asking for licence, use licence provided in 1st post (Audi, VW or SK). The licence you use will determine what car brand your ODIS will cover.
3. After install, reboot
4. Replace ODIS launcher with the one provided 
5. Run the launcher, copy the hardware ID. close it.
6. run the keygen, create your key from the Hardware ID, (I personnaly ticked "Executions" and input "1000" so I can run it 1000 times before the licence expires.

What is Xentry DAS Diagnostics?

Xentry DAS (Diagnostic Assistance System) is the complete diagnosis system that is used to troubleshoot Mercedes-Benz car problems and is the official Mercedes-Benz dealer software. It can configure, reprogram, initialization of new components, program, perform guided tests, read or erase fault codes in any of the systems including AirMatic, AirBag, SRS, EIS, Transmission, ETS, BAS,  and all of the control modules. DAS Xentry software requires the C3 Multiplexer Star or C4 SD Connect hardware or Xentry CONNECT C5 . The c3 multiplexer is an earlier model that was replaced by the C4 SD Connect. If you want use DAS C3, you will need a laptop with a serial port RS232 to connect the Multiplexer and run the Xentry software. if you use C4 , it can install in WIN7 system use WLAN OR LAN connect to car to do diagnosis . the C3 is stop use on 2012 in Mercedes shop. C4 is stop use after 2015 . but now C4 is support mercedes cars or trcuk which don't have DOIP  before 2017 .The Xentry connect C5  is the newest diagnosic tool of mercedes . it inlcude software in the machine . you can use is in any laptop with win7 system!

What is Developer Mode Extension for DAS. (offline programming) 

Developer extension of the DAS for Mercedes-Benz vehicles allows in-depth configuration and programming of the control units. This option is typically enabled for the factory version of the scanner. It was meant for development and testing purposes of the onboard electronic systems. It will allow the user to change the configuration of the car. For example, you can change the ECU, program to use a different engine model, change the speed limit or torque settings and a lot more. Using Developer Mode without knowing exactly what you are doing can be dangerous.  this functions can use on 2012 DAS. after this version is closed.

Electronic Parts Catalogue (EPC)

All members of the club can take advantage of their access to the full Mercedes-Benz parts catalogue for all vehicles manufactured after 1946.


EPC4However, we as club members now have the option of searching the EPC to determine the part number ourselves. This opens up a world of options, such as cross referencing parts across models and determining if there are other optional parts available for our cars that can still be purchased. Of course, with the part number it is very easy to then search online for a cheaper option, just beware that the quality of those cheaper parts will invariably be inferior to the genuine Mercedes-Benz part from the dealer.

By entering your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) into the EPC (for vehicles manufactured after approximately 1982), you can view the specific parts that fit your car, which is extremely helpful when variations
on a part were fitted over the model’s lifetime, or even just for different markets.

Also the vehicle’s Data Card is viewable which shows the original engine number, gearbox number, order number, paint code(s), trim code and a list of option codes. This comes in very handy when looking at a second hand car for example and determining if it has the original components still fitted. By deciphering the order number, you can even tell to what country the car was originally delivered.

The EPC also shows an exploded view of each area of the car showing where the parts fit and contains consumables and materials that are not vehicle specific, such as paint cans and rolls of upholstery.

Diagbox 7.76 software via CD     No Password, Tested OK with Lexia 3 cable


 

Link is provided in the attachment for “APP_Update_850-854.exe”. This is intended to update Lexia and PP2000 components of DiagBox 8.50 to 8.54.

Procedure:
1- Ensure you have a backup copy of the file “C:\AWRoot\bin\fi\APPDIAG.SYS” before you start.
2- Download and execute the appropriate file for your own setup. The process will copy all necessary files to the updt folder, it will then automatically kill all associated processes to enable overwriting without conflicts.
3- Run DiagBox to start the update process and wait until DiagBox is operational. Close DiagBox and restart your computer to ensure all processes are running.

Done..! you may run DiagBox as usual.. Notice that DiagBox version will change to 07.854 after the update..
